Today’s focus principle is “Kuumba” which means “creativity”.

*”To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it”.

To whom much is given, much is required. We have been tasked w rebuilding and reorganizing our community, and this responsibility is not to be taken lightly. We must all strive to bring change to the current state of our community, saving our children, taking care of our elderly gems, and spending time building a solid family foundation. It truly starts right in your home, and extends outward! Every little step in the right direction improves the steps taken!

Today’s focus principle is “Nia”, which means “purpose”.

*”To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness”.

In essence, we must all be on one accord, come together to strengthen and prosper our community, in a unified effort to restore our brothers and sisters to our original beauty, splendor, and confidence! It takes “the village” to restore the village! It’s never too late to do the work of restoration; one person at a time!

7 Principles of KWANZAA: Day 4 (dec29) "Ujamaa"

Today’s focus principle is “Ujamaa” (Covenant’s focus principle or 2012) which means “cooperative economics”.

*”To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses, and to profit from them together”.

Entrepreneurs: if ever you feel discouraged, please know that this is a natural feeling when starting and/or maintaining you own business! Keep your focus strong and don’t be afraid to seek assistance! You never know who may be watching you as their example if perseverance!

Community: let’s support our brothers and sisters in entrepreneurship by patronizing their establishments on a frequent basis! Small businesses grow because of a support system! Be involved in the growth and development of your own community!

7 Principles of KWANZAA: Day3 (dec28): "Ujima"

Today’s focus is “Ujima”, which means “Collective Work & Responsibility”!

*Defined, Ujima means “to build and maintain our community together, and make our brother’s and sister’s problems and to solve them together”.

It goes without saying that we are in times where one only thinks of themselves…how did we stray so far away from the communities of old? Our children are selfish, and are also self-absorbed, which means they turn into selfish, self-absorbed “adults”; so the cycle repeats itself when THEY have children; it’s high time for a change!

It starts w you! Embrace togetherness, spend quality time w loved ones, and make sure that a home is a welcoming and peaceful environment, which will extend outward! Am I my brother’s keeper? Yes I am!

7 Principles of KWANZAA: Day 2 (Dec27) "Kujichagulia"

Today’s focus principle is “Kujichagulia” (koo-jee-chah-goo-lee-ah), which means “self-determination”.

*Defined, this principle means “To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves & speak for ourselves ourselves“.

There is always beauty in knowing who you are as a person, to know and understand your God given name, living under the Will of God by using your gifts, and standing up for yourself w great confidence. Often times, life will come in like a mad wind and shake us up, sometimes even knocking us down. But in the day-to-day struggles, and while “getting back up again”, we musn’t forget who we are, lose the understanding of our name, we must continue to live under the will of God and use our gifts, and we must be strong and stand firm on our beliefs!

Speaking from a place of pain today, I have been shaken, and almost broken spiritually. However, after knowing that God is with me through it ALL, I can continue on as He sees fit! Life’s lessons aren’t always pretty, but they are shaping me into a stronger and more determined being. My head is bloody, but definitely not bowed; if I can look up, I can get up!

7 Principles of KWANZAA: Day1 (Dec26) "Umoja"

*Dr. Maulana Karenga, creator of the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa or Nguzo Saba, had the desire to highlight or drive direct focus to the greatest qualities and characteristics of the “first fruits” or harvest festivals that were celebrated throughout Africa!

*Today’s celebrated principle is Umoja (oo-Moh-jah) which means “Unity”. Defined, this principle advises that success starts w unity; unity of family, community, nation and race!

We cannot have a community without first coming together and realizing that we are ALL integral in the building up of the community, and strengthening the bonds with each other! Faith in our communities will bring about a necessary CHANGE in our communities!

Stay tuned each day for information on all of the principles, which will be outlined here!

Shooting In Newtown

My prayers are extended to anyone suffering during this tragedy.

In all honesty, I wish the gunman would have turned the gun on himself PERIOD…not on anyone else at ANY point. Those children, and adults alike, had dreams…and those dreams are permanently deferred…such a tragedy and completely ridiculous…

Be safe out there…if your kids aren’t safe in the school house, where the hell else can they go while the parents work to provide for them?

Smh…

12.12.12 My WebSite Launch! (32)

I am elated today because we are now at the official launch of my company website! (click the photo to be directed to the site!)

MY LOGO

I am thankful for my own diligence w my company, even in a time where people suggested that I “wait”. For what? Starting a business takes money in the beginning, but fulfilling a dream is priceless…and this is a dream! My late Mother would be so very proud of me!

I want to thank everyone who genuinely believes in me, those who have entrusted their business/brand w my company, the love of my life for his support, Freddie Taylor of Nimble Websites for their hard work and dedication, and a special thank you to myself…for staying the course, making room for my gifts, remaining FOCUSED, and making a route for me to leave the job that is holding me back.  I am GRATEFUL today for the things that God is adding to me!  If you learn ANYTHING from me, please learn this:

It’s ok to have a dream and to work towards making that dream your reality! Write YOUR vision and make it plain; your first belief MUST be in yourself and your own abilities.  Once this is your focus, there will be nothing…AND I DO MEAN NOTHING…that will be able to stop that train!!!
